Job Description: My client is looking to recruit a ‘Head Of Clinical Technology’ (Chief Medical Device Technician).Your role will be to support the ‘Director of Medical Physics’ in the expert advice, leadership & management of healthcare technologies. To lead & manage the Clinical Technology Group, consisting of the Clinical Equipment Management Service (CEMS), the Medical Device Risk & Training section & the Equipment Library. You will lead on service planning & shaping the group for the future, to include a strong focus on safety and quality & a process for continuous improvement.
Assist the DMP in achieving financial targets & Service Improvement/Cash releasing programmes, & increase external income generation. Assist the DMP in maintaining the Trust’s compliance with Standards for Better Health C4b or its replacement.
Assist the DMP in providing advice to the Board on the management of Medical Devices. Train & develop yourself & other staff. You will spend 20-30% of your time directly maintaining medical device equipment.
Person Specification: 5 years experience of Medical Equipment Management including staff management
Able to logically diagnose component & system faults on patient critical medical equipment
Comprehensive understanding of patient & staff risks arising from equipment failure
Specialist knowledge of the ISO 9000 Standard for Quality Management Systems
Specialist knowledge of BS EN 60601 BSI Standard for Electrical Safety of Medical Equipment
Comprehensive specialist knowledge of DB 2006(05) MHRA Device Bulletin for Medical Equipment Management
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Practical experience in electro-medical engineering workshop practices & techniques
Knowledge of drawing up budgets and financial planning

Qualifications: Relevant degree or equivalent level of knowledge & experience
Registration through the HPC or a voluntary register
Evidence of continuing professional development
Incorporated or Corporate membership of a professional body (or eligible for this)
